New Year's Resolutions

Posted on Dec. 17, 2007 by Ann White

Okay, this year will be different. I am not going to vow to lose 20 pounds or get my house completely organized (although heaven knows I really should do both!). This year I am going to make some resolutions that will be fun to keep. Maybe then I will have a better chance at success.

And since a large part of my world revolves around crochet, I think it only fair that some of these fun-filled resolutions should help me develop my skills and knowledge as a crocheter.

Alright then, this year, I, Ann White, resolve to:
  1. Learn at least one new crochet technique. I love the whimsical look of the little amigurumi figures, and would love to make some little fairies, gnomes and toadstools. So, I think this will be my first project. But then again, I still haven’t mastered felting (crocheting with wool makes my fingers itch!).
  2. Teach at least one person to crochet. My son Paul’s girlfriend, Crista, would like to learn, so I will just have to make an effort to coordinate our schedules and spend time teaching her (it will probably be a good way to get to know her better as well).
  3. Make at least 6 items to give away to people who need and would appreciate them. The sweet ladies in my Aunt Ruthie’s nursing home really admired the shawl I made her for her 100th birthday, so maybe I can start with them.

Okay, I think that is enough, I don't want to overwhelm myself! I will let you know if I succeed, but I can tell you right now, I have a pretty good feeling about this year!
